Standpipe System

STANDPIPE SYSTEM, as defined in the UBC, is a wet or dry system of piping, valves, outlets and related equipment designed to provide water at specified pressures and installed exclusively for the fighting of fires. Standpipes are only required in certain larger sprinklered buildings, usually not less than four stories. Your sprinkler installer/supplier or your architect are the best ones to ascertain whether a standpipe is required.
